high school drama

Okay so high school drama really stinks. It pulls in everybody and won't let anyone out, and it's usually over little or medium things that can be solved and instead taken to extreme. Why do teenagers take this route? I think one of the reasons is that it has to do something with teens still going through adolesence etc. Seriously, when you are going through it, you experience different chemical reactions in your brain which causes you to act differently, such as mood swings. So when something really tense comes up dealing with H.S.D., your brain can't handle the stress and gets aggressive. There is also a whole bunch of pressure from friends and aquaintances. While during high school your friends are probably your closest confidente, when something extreme comes up your friends expect you to help them out. Yet when it gets to a big major thing, such as friends fighting and taking sides, there is alot of pressure to stick up for one or the other. Basically, if you take a side, you are falling into the dumb pit of high school drama that solves absolutely nothing!

Prom....

Prom is so overly dramatic. Why is it that way? First of all, I don't know, everyone treats it differently, but it's all in some ways dramatized. Prom, since it's the last dance of the year, not to mention the biggest as well, is taken really seriously. I don't know much about the guys, but my guyfriend did tell me that he doesn't like spending sooo much money on the date and dance itself plus a tux and pictures. Then there is also the trouble of finding a group and figuring out how to ask the girl out and hoping he won't get rerjected (which is highly unlikely, since girls usually don't care and just want to go...). Girls all have to find a dress that isn't $200+ and then there is the hair and nails and shoe shopping to take care of as well as figuring out how to reply to the guy. I think these things are usually why Prom is such a stressed out thing. It's probably worth it, but I can't say because I've never been to Prom before!

spring break

Sadly, it's over. It seems like it almost never happened, but I do feel refreshed and ready for school again. Why do we have spring break? I think the most important reason is because all the students, teachers, and faculty need a nice break. The last big break was 4 months ago and still in 1st semester! Having one for the second is nice to take a break or finally catch up with all of the homework load. It's also nice because in the next month there will be finals, AP tests, projects etc. that both students and teachers will be staying up late for. So it is nice to be able to relax and get ready for the huge workload and final grades that will take up a majority of the time. Along with that, with studying and focusing on schoolwork, spring break allows you to catch up and hang out with friends, probably for the last time until school is pretty much done, and then summer begins!

General Conference weekend!

Yay it's general conference! What a great time, very spiritual. I must say though, why is the LDS church seriously the only one that has broadcasted their annual and semi-annual conferences? Hmm.... maybe something living in Utah has something to do with it. What I mean is.... Since Utah is basically Mormonville, you don't really hear anything else about other religions brodacasting. I am sure they do it, but the other huge church I know of is Catholic, and the Pope and the basis is in Europe, so that might have something to do with it also. Also, the LDS church is the fastest growing religion, and I think the richest church as well, and at least not in debt at all. Because of that, I think the Church is able to broadcast it, not only in our country, but around the entire world! So ya, that's about all I have to say. I'm not saying that my religion is better if any one is offended, because I have the highest respect for any other religion as well.:)

Wii! (Be careful, you get sore muscles from being competitive!)

I love this new video game! It's pretty awesome, no wonder people love it so much! But I've always wondered why the creators or whatever, made up this fantastic object? The first obvious thing that came to mind was profit. First week it sold they made millions! I'd be surprised if they haven't reached a billion yet. Even though video games have been around for a long time, making a new sleek design and different way to play virtual would be awesome! It's like a similator or something rather. The other thing that came to mind of why they had made this was, well, our society. Since most of America's population is overweight (I feel bad saying that but statistics have proven it), and I'm sure a good deal of it may be becasue people are being couch potatoes and playing video games all day. So, why not make a video game that gets you up and moving? Burn off some calories yay! haha. But seriously, since Wii is not your typical video game, the whole point of it is too pretty much get up and moving, otherwise, there is no point!

March Madness

I really dislike basketball, mainly because of experience, but seriously, I find no joy in it. But that is my personal opinion. But why in the world do we have March Madness? First of all, It is in the middle of the two most advertised and way exciting seasons. Football, over with, and baseball, hasn't even begun. People get bored because it is the worst time for sports. So, for entertainment, you have to have something worth while and exhilirating, like playoffs or something. Here in high school, there's nothing going on, so I guess it's something for guys to look forward to. Here at MV, there are no date dances to be excited about, and it's third term, the worst of all four! So during rest and relaxation, its gametime. It is something entertaining and to get the mind off of homework for a while and settle down. However there is one catch. This is why girls don't like guys in March, cuz they are too busy being glued to the TV!

daylight savings

okay, so daylight savings isn't new, but why on earth did they have to change the time we now do it? Originally, daylight savings was put into action during one of the world wars, to save energy. So, I guess we are trying to save even more energy than before, even though we were doing pretty well beforehand anyway. But does three weeks earlier really make a difference? I think not, that's three more weeks lost of precious sleep! Plus, I don't see why we should just choose a time and keep it. It would be alot easier to remember and people wouldn't have such a hard time remembering and sleeping in too late. But oh well, I guess it'll just stay this way until the government decides to change it again.

i want spring

Okay, so i think for the months of november through january, sometimes february, it's okay to snow. But March? No way! It's fripping the month when spring starts when it finally gets warm!! Why does it have to snow during the spring months?! I know it's not my place to ask of something that I can't control, but really, when march comes around, it's when you focus on the heat. New clothes, flip flops, and buy some new beach gear that's on sale. Plus, it's vacation planning time! If it's snowing, then nobody's going to want to plan it because people think that since it's snowing, it's too far away. Ya, dumb. Also, March is when the last school term starts, and everyone is focused on finals, AP tests, the AcT etc. It's a routine, when it gets warm, that must mean the end of school is coming, which equals hard tests that you start studying for 2 months in advance. If it is still snowing, people think that it still must be awile. It's just something that is assumed, since cold=snow. So pretty much is that snow=cold, which means no time to study and people start later on fun summer activities, because it's just what is assumed. This might not make sense to you, but it certainly does to me. ;)

darn gas prices!

Ok so maybe this title doesn't have anything to do with my blog, i am just a little upset. Acutally, this blog entry is sadly about math. AGGh. Terrible i know. Ya why in the world do we use the dreaded numbers of doom?!? Seriously, math is basically working hard one year, and the next learning there was an easier way to do it. However, I've realized that we actually can't get by one day without using math. Without it, how would our economy and the world go on? Their statistics, numbers etc etc that we use in school and in the real world. O wow that is a lot of numbers. So I guess even though math is a terrible thing, and hardly anyone (that I know of) can understand the concepts taught, it helps us live comfortably! Like I guess for example, knowing how much gas prices went up (grr), that's math cuz you gotta do the addition, or knowing how much you have left in your savings account after you bought an awesome hot pink nano (hehe) thats math too! So it evolves around us and we evolve around it. Sad, but true.

analyzing on analyzing

Why do we analyze? I don't know. Usually it's because english teachers tell us to, or else we get a D-. Yet I've realized that isn't always for homework. My friends and I always anaylze like, a movie or an event that we've gone to. Everyone has their different opinions from what they watched and analyzed from the activity, and sometimes it is really interesting to see what they think. (and sometimes it's not, like when you know what they analyzed is right and they rub it in your face) Analyzing is just what the normal person does, and it is to everything and anything. But that is okay. Becuase it's cool to see the relationship and differences in what you have analyzed and what others have to form a complete synthesis.

MUN! (USA Delegation Rocks!)

I enjoy doing MUN, because of the people I'm with, and usually my topics are interesting, and I feel that I do better each time a new conference comes up. Why did they decide to create MUN? In some conferences, like RSHMUN, it involves a lot of western states, like Cali, Nevada, Oregon, Washington etc. Meeting new people and socializing was a good experience, because in some cases you start new friendships and you become aware of what else is going on around you by what the other teenagers views are about. MUN also helps one develop a knowledge of what is going on around them internationally. Personally, I would've never of understood some international events or issues if I hadn't gone to MUN and gotten some background. It helps one become aware of real issues and able to create possible solutions. So, to summarize, MUN helps one understand the world around them, gain social skills, and become able to think and create solutions that may be able to be used in the future in their own lives!

I heart shopping

So pretty much every girl that I know loves shopping for new clothes, including myself, a total shopping spree-every-weekend-kinda person. So lately when I go shopping, and what I've watched in my financial literacy class, people shop for clothes depending on the brand name. Why does this happen? Personally, the new trends are a big factor in this. Teens at school have the most, uh... interesting fashions that seem to get either wierder or cuter every week. Keeping in these trends that come and go are usually bought from popular stores, like idk, aero, abercrombie and fitch, american eagle, and so on. Since these stores are widely known, and everyone sees there brands, the trends at school are also "popular" that come from these stores. There's also a thing going on that the trends are getting more expensive. If the clothes are getting more expensive, than people, to be part of the trend, will start spending more money. At the same time, the same shirt at like Walmart or Target may be less expensive, but since the "popular" stores are getting the money, it'll keep continuing. It's competitive consumption! Just to be part of the trends at school or just in society all together and buying by brand name is, well, not really needed.

Da Iron Giant!

K so this movie is like, one of my childhood favorites! My little sister decided to watch it, so I watched it with her to explain everything, and I was reminded of how much I enjoyed it! So why do some movies, like this one, totally stick with you forever? Well, some of it could be because of why, when, and what you were doing while you were watching it. This one we always use to rent on New Year's Eve and stay up watching it continuously. It was our way of staying awake and getting the adrenaline up. Plus, one of my sisters was always afraid of this one part, so she never watched it and we always made fun of her. Mean I know, but teasing each other about that was just another event that happened while watching it. So now everytime I watch that I'll think about staying up with my family and getting hyper because of how tired i was. So memories of watching a movie that sticks with you keeps you loving the movie, and showing it to others and having them love it too!

Flowers..chocolates...promises you don't intend to keep

Valentines day is coming in another month! Okay, I probably shouldn't be writing this until after preference, but it was the only thing I could think of. So why is Valentines such a cool and sweet holiday for girls, but guys aren't as enthusiastic about it? Well, first off, advertisements about Valentine's are usually focused to be meant for girls. Boxes of chocolates, roses, Kay jewelers special sale for that "special someone", ya you get the idea. Usually girls don't go up to guys and give them a diamond watch with a dozen roses (maybe the chocolates, but probably not in a heart shaped box.) The gifts are meant for girls and the pleasure they get with it. Plus, it's always the guy who's giving the gifts anyway in the ads. In real life (well to me in high school at least) guys I know don't want to really go out and spend money on girls. To them, they think it's a waste of money, and they are only going to appreciate it on the "love day, cuz that's what they're supposed to do" (my friend said this by the way.) It would be much easier to write a note and, if they have the guts for it, go up and say, "hey you are a cool person, thanx for being my friend." Personally, I think that means a whole lot more than some flowers. Just hearing that you are appreciated is going to stick around in your memory forever, while a box of chocolates only gives you temporary pleasure. If Valentine's Day was more like that, both guys and girls would love it more.
