Once again, I need the extra credit... so here's my review assignment!
A bit of sunny California in the middle of chilly Utah, who wants to bypass that? The California Pizza Kitchen at the University Mall is one of the best places to get of taste of California fun.
As expected, the Kitchen was crowded with swarms of people, being 6 p.m. on a Saturday night. However, my two friends and I were offered a choice between waiting for half an hour or immediately sitting at the bar area in front of the kitchen. Obviously we chose the latter.
The menu had your typical pastas, california rolls, and of course, the specialty pizzas. We went for something classic, such as the California Club pizza, but something exotic as well, and ordered the Thai Chicken pizza.
The Club pizza was different; it was like a Subway sandwich on a hot pizza crust. While the lettuce on top was the usual shredded cafeteria type, the avacados were quite fresh and the chicken and bacon thoroughly cooked.
The Thai Chicken is my new favorite meal. The assortment of vegetables, cilantro, chicken, and peanuts glazed with a spicy yet tangy peanut glaze was delicious; I had a whole pan to myself.
The service was fast, which was surprising because how busy it was there. At first it took a while just to get three waters, but during the rest of our stay our waiter made sure that we had everything we needed and that our food tasted okay.
Overall, the California Pizza Kitchen was fast and satisfying in service and food, and gives the customer a bit of some sunny delight.
